Getting To Know The Crew

When you think about live theater, what comes to mind? Let me guess, a dazzling actor. Actors aren't the only people invloved in putting a show together.

There's the director, the baskstage crew, house, light booth etc. I've been given the oppurtunity to interview a fellow Wyoming Theater Company member, who resides in the light booth.  Marissa Garcia says "First we have to change the batteries in all the mics, and in the pianists music stand light.

The hardest thing about working lights is figuring out when to make decisions on our own, or when to wait for guidance. We always have to make sure that we're following along in the script and that we're doing the right things at the right time.

It's always really stressful when we mess up, because then the next time you always remember that one mess up and it haunts you. It's a lot of trial and error basically.

On the other hand it's a wonderful feeling when the sound is perfect and the lighting is great and the actors are able to feel at home in the scene because of what we do.

When it all comes together it definitely makes it worth it." This is Marissa's second show working the booth and she has done marvelously. It's thanks to hard work from crew members like her that a show actually goes well. So remember next time you pop in to see a Wyoming Theater Company show and things don't go horribly, it's probably thanks to the crew member.

Art Festival Nunsense Performance

This Saturday at 1:30 at the arts festival, in the small gym of the Wyoming High School, The Wyoming Theater company will be giving a sneak peek of their up coming show Nunsense The Mega Musical. The cast will perform 4 songs from the actual musical, and they will be in costume.
Before the performance they will be mingling and checking out some of the art pieces. It's crunch time for the Theater Company and they're all a bit on edge at the thought of being on stage in a week and a half. The show day is creeping up, March 25th though the 28th. Never has the Theater Company done a show of this magnitude. with crowd interaction and quite a lot of ad libbing. Though I believe that things will go over smoothly, and the show will be amazing.
