Opening Doors For African Americans On stage

The stage is a humble home for many diverse actors, not excluding many African Americans. To celebrate Black History month I'd like to take a step back in time and take off our hats to a group of remarkable off and on Broadway African Americans. the most Patina Miller: lead role in sister act the on Broadway musical. She shocked thousands with her heart warming performance, and to African Americans like herself that we can all make a name for ourselves in theater. She has had the role every time it's been casted since 1998. She really is something else. Thanks for your hard work Patina!

The Wyoming theater Company is Back In Action

The Wyoming Theater Company is hard at work, getting ready for their spring show Nunsense The Mega Musical. It is a satire filled musical about 5 nuns who have to put on a talent show to raise money to bury their fellow convent sisters after they accidentally eat poisoned soup.
The cast is headed by Irene Kivinen, The Mother Superior; Shyanne Calvin, Sister Hubert; Olivia Hamilton, Sister Robert Anne; Heidi Glynn, Sister Amnesia; and Gabby Huizinga, Sister Leo; Coincidentally all of these girls are seniors in Wyoming High School.
The cast is knee deep in dance rehearsals, line memorization, and vocal rehearsals.
When asked how she thinks the show is going to turn out Irene replied "I have faith that the musical will go extremely well, I mean they always do so I don't know." which is true. The Wyoming  theater Company has had a long line of sold out shows, one after the other.
Let's hope this show goes over just as well, and lets hope our 5 leading ladies make us here at Wyoming proud. Fingers crossed.

I am a senior in high school and I am extremely familiar with the hassles of being an actor and carrying your weight behind and on the stage. I will post regularly about our own schools Wyoming Theater Company and about other theatrical events going on in the world. I hope to make this experience something myself and you can enjoy. Come back and check this page often to stay updated. Shyanne out.
